CT, on the other hand, uses X-rays to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body. By combining SPECT and CT technologies, SPECT/CT can provide both functional and anatomical information in a single imaging session. This integration allows for more precise localization of abnormalities detected by SPECT and better correlation with the patient's anatomy, aiding in diagnosis and treatment planning in various medical conditions, particularly in oncology, cardiology, and neurology.
