Pituitary Tumor

A pituitary tumor is a benign or malignant mass or growth that occurs in the pituitary gland and can affect hormone production.

Pituitary Tumor

Our specialized center, located within Liv Hospital Brain and Nerve Surgery Clinic, specializes in the treatment of surgical diseases of the sella, a special region of the brain, and surrounding structures. The council formed by the departments of neurosurgery, neuroendocrinology, neuroradiology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, neurology, ophthalmology and neuropathology within our center works together to create the most appropriate treatment path for each of our patients.

Pituitary Tumor Diagnosis

Every patient applying to Liv Hospital Pituitary Surgery Center is first evaluated clinically by the Brain and Nerve Surgery and Neuroendocrinology departments. All laboratory and radiological examinations necessary for the patient's condition are performed and interpreted using the relevant sections. The treatment method is discussed and decided in the council. The follow-up process after surgery or medical treatment is closely monitored and periodic checks are performed. In necessary cases, treatments such as radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy are coordinated to be carried out in relevant departments.

How is Pituitary Tumor Surgery Performed?

Liv Hospital Pituitary Surgery Center has all the advanced technological infrastructure required by this important disease group. All kinds of up-to-date operating room technologies have been established to allow surgeries in this important region to be performed precisely. In our operating room, we have the latest technology operating microscope (OpMi Pentero 900, Zeiss), neuronavigation (Medtronic StealthStation S7), neuroultrasound (Hitachi Aloka prosound alpha 7), laser (thulium), ultrasonic aspirator - dissector (Sonopet), high-speed drill systems ( Medtronic Midas-Rex, Aesculap micrspeed, NSK Primado), neuroendoscopy systems (Storz, Wolf), and specialized pituitary surgical equipment systems have been installed in the A+ group private neurosurgery operating room. Neuromonitoring (continuous control of nervous system functions with a special computer system during surgery), computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging methods are applied to all necessary cases during surgery.

Close Follow-Up Should Be Made After Pituitary Tumor Surgery

Pituitary region diseases are a group of diseases that need to be followed closely not only during preoperative examinations, surgery and early periods, but also in the future. All patients of our center are evaluated with close clinical, radiological and laboratory follow-ups in the future.
