Endodontics
At Liv Hospital Oral and Dental Health Clinic, the endodontics unit deals with root canal treatment for abscessed or inflamed teeth. There is nerve and vascular tissue (pulp tissue) in the inner part of the tooth, which has an important role in nourishing and protecting dental tissues. Infection may develop in the teeth as a result of dental caries advancing or approaching the pulp. In this case, patients may experience tooth pain, inflammation, or an abscess in that area. At Liv Hospital Oral and Dental Health Clinic, teeth are treated endodontically.
What Happens If Root Canal Treatment Is Not Performed?
In cases where the pulp cannot heal itself due to deep caries and cracks, the tooth loses its vitality and the infection may spread to the entire tooth. If root canal treatment is not performed, the infection may reach the tissues at the root tip. The jawbone surrounding the tooth also becomes inflamed and eroded. An abscess forms in this space. This condition is accompanied by pain and swelling, and if left untreated, the tooth will be lost in a short time.
