Evaluation of Breast Swelling and Mass
The presence of swelling and mass in the breast is scary at first because it mimics the symptoms of breast cancer. You or your doctor may detect a lump or mass in your breast, or your mammogram or ultrasound may reveal a lesion that requires further examination. Any changes in the breast may be a sign of cancer and need to be evaluated. Most of these changes are benign and occur much more frequently than breast cancer. Although benign changes are not cancer, some may increase the risk of breast cancer.
Breast Swelling and Mass Evaluation at Liv Hospital
People who apply to our hospital due to a mass or swelling in their breasts are first given a physical examination by General Surgery Specialists who specialize in breast diseases, and all parameters related to the existing mass are evaluated. Patients are then directed to a Radiologist who specializes in breast diseases for the necessary radiological examinations. Depending on the patient's complaints, blood tests may be performed if necessary. Following the radiological results, the patient is directed to further examinations, if necessary, and biopsy or discharge cytology is performed if necessary.
Following these procedures, the person's risk profile regarding the current change is created. If treatment or surgery is required, planning is made, and if treatment is not required, a follow-up program is created.
