4d Breast Ultrasound
What is 4D Breast Ultrasonography?
Automated Breast Ultrasound is used as an adjunct to mammography for breast cancer screening in women with dense breast tissue.
Automated Breast Ultrasound can be used as an adjunct to mammography for breast cancer screening in women with dense breast tissue where mammography screening findings are normal or benign. The examination is performed with the patient in the supine position.
A gel is applied on the breast and the US apparatus (probe) that enables image acquisition is moved over the breast. Meanwhile, the images formed on the US screen are analysed and if a suspicious finding is detected, the image is recorded.
How is 4D Breast Ultrasonography Performed?
The examination is performed while the patient is lying down. Lotion is applied on the breast and the ultrasonography apparatus (probe) suitable for the breast surface used to obtain images is placed on the breast and automatically performs horizontal scanning.
In this method, 3 separate images (2 or 4 depending on the situation) are taken from the breast. Thanks to the 3-dimensional image and data set obtained, retrospective evaluation of the breast is also possible.
During the procedure, the scanning of the device is performed under the control of the technician and the 3D images obtained are evaluated by the breast radiologist.
